Docked

My favorite painting of a docked ship and propeller from Aloha Tower, Honolulu, Hawaii because of its composition and ironic state on land

Lights

Beautiful colors of a friend’s photograph of Disneyland’s mesmerizing lights

Girl Without Boundaries

This is a symbol of my generation seeking opportunities. In a world that bombards us with information, stereotypes, and expectations, we push through the darkness until we see the light – what we are meant to do with our lives.

Memories of Hawaii

Many layers of meaning for a friend in Washington with memories of growing up in Hawaii

Makapu’u Point Lighthouse

Makapu'u, a goddess with eight bulging eyes, lived at the Southeastern point of Oahu according to Hawaiian legends. In 1909, Makapu'u Point Lighthouse was first illuminated and became another bright shining eye to guide ships through the Kaiwi Channel. I am in awe of light keeper Alexander Toomey's devotion to stand guard in guiding incoming mariners. Even in tragedy he said, "Stand by the light and keep it burning."
